The good, the bad and the ugly

Monday swings around again and this past weekend has been an eventful one. For those of you who don’t know, I turned 27 last Wednesday (one day after my writing partner, S.E. Berrow). This weekend was full of fun, frolics and not a little regret in order to celebrate the anniversary of my birth. And then, of course, there were Those Pieces of News…

The ugly news: I shouldn’t drink. Sunday was a tragic day full of regret, naps and binge-watching easy-watch TV shows.

The bad news: I received my second rejection for The Elder Throne last night. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel even a little sad about it, so either I’ve already become desensitised to the harsh world of publishing, or it was eclipsed by the other piece of news I received that same day…

The good (great, fan-tabby-tastic) news: I have a house! I have been scrimping and saving for such a long time but the wait is finally over! My partner and I will be moving in with each other in October, to a very conveniently placed house that I adore. I have a bit more scrimping and saving to do but the house, at least, is secure in our names.

The experience so far has been a bit haphazard. The housing crisis (heightened where I live) was a difficult obstacle to overcome so I’m thrilled the first hurdle has been jumped i.e. we found a house and it’s reserved/we’ve been approved for a mortgage. The next steps, I am warned, are more difficult, so here’s hoping I keep my head throughout.

Go on, let me know what you think!
